Session Description: Leslie Redmond – The ODA Suggested Fee Guide and Dental Plans: Best Practices ( 3 credits – Category 1)
Recognizing that the ODA Suggested Fee Guide is an important part of running a business both ethically and economically, this session is designed so that dentists can accurately and effectively interpret the Guide. Participants will hear best practices in choosing the correct procedure codes, fee development and communications with both patients and third parties.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify and apply principles required to develop and communicate fees and report services using the Suggested Fee Guide, acknowledging the link to professional conduct
- Identify the roles and responsibilities of the dentist as they relate to dental plans
- Be familiar with the key aspects and the importance of record keeping and documentation as it relates to reporting and communicating with third party payers

Leslie Redmon Biography
As Assistant Dental Information Officer in the Practice Advisory Services department of the Ontario Dental Association, Ms. Redmond provides technical expertise regarding the use of the ODA’s Suggested Fee Guides to ODA members and their staff. In addition to matters related to procedure codes, she also provides support and direction to members on dental claims adjudication. Ms. Redmond graduated from the George Brown College CDA and RDH programs and she brings almost 40 years of experience in both private and community dental practice to the ODA.
Session Description: David Harris – How to Outsmart the Thief in Your Practice ( 3 credits – Category 3)
Using cases drawn from Prosperident’s extensive files as teaching tools, David provides audiences with an inside look at embezzlement that is not available anywhere else. His deep understanding of the criminal mindset allows him to take his audience inside the thought process and behavior of embezzlers, and he will dispel many of the persistent misconceptions on this topic. Audiences will acquire the ability to recognize the warning signs of theft, and will leave with concrete action steps that will radically lower their risk of being victimized.
David Harris Biography
Let David Harris, the man who has put hundreds of dental office thieves in jail, unveil employee theft for what it is– a business risk that is all too real. With 32 years’ experience investigating embezzlement, David is a master storyteller who harnesses his personal experiences (with a spicy dash of humor) in a way that both entertains and inspires his audience to take action!
